As of October 2015 all new lunches will only be posted on Instagram (and shared on Twitter).

Curse you, Perry the Platypus!!!

A pretty simple Doofenshmirtz & Perry lunch today for John. Doofenshmirtz is drawn onto a ham & cheese sandwich with an Empire Jack cheese speech bubble. I couldn't write small enough with the food gels or markers so the "Curse you..." is written on paper. I warned him so he doesn't somehow try and eat it, too. In the top left are grapes with a hollowed out hard cooked egg with Agent P drawn on & the top right has the yolk from the egg mixed with some spicy brown mustard so he can devil his egg at lunch time. He also has an unpictured yogurt cup.

Colleen Oakes' Wendy Darling (a #worklunch in @EasyLunchboxes)

Omigosh, you guys ... this book is so amazingly amazing!!! I was given an advanced copy to read by NetGalley, started reading it yesterday and will probably finish reading it tonight at work ... so what better time to have a book based on the amazing cover art???  (I even rambled about it on the book blog already -- it's that good that I don't need to wait until it's done to say it's that good!)
I have California blend vegetables with cheese sauce under the cover art (made from Empire Jack cheese), 2 hard cooked eggs and some left over chicken thighs. In case you were wondering. Now, go pre-order the book.

Only slacking off a little bit...

Only missed posting two lunches (I think)! Work has been crazy again and on top of that my brain isn't back in the swing of the whole "make a lunch, post a lunch" thing again yet. He's gotten lunch at school a few times so, luckily, that only means that I've missed posting two! (If you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen them there ....)

Pepperoni & cheese in spinach flatbread, grapes, olives, pumpkin seeds.

Pepperoni & cheese (again) on light multigrain bread, grapes, carrots w/ ranch, pork rinds

Cupcake Lunch

John has wanted a Five Nights At Freddies lunch to go in the lunchbox he decorated and today he got it.
The "cupcake" is a ham & cheese sandwich with empire jack candle. He's also got a hard cooked egg, grapes, pumpkin seeds, and an unpictured yogurt tube.

Pepperoni Provolone Wrap

Just a simple lunch today with flat bread rolled up with pepperoni slices and provolone cheese (melted so it sticks together better), grapes, black olives & petite carrots.

"Blog Logo Day"

When I suggested bacon as part of tomorrow's lunch, John got the idea for "blog logo day" with pics from here AND the book blog, The Well-Read Pirate Queen (which he also contributes to from time to time)!

The bacon is, of course, bacon. The "nerd glasses" are drawn on a hard cooked egg. The egg has been cut in half so he could have deviled eggs, with the filling in the small container above. Our book blog logo is drawn verrrrrrry carefully onto a slice of Empire Jack cheese on top of Veggie Sticks (which, I just noticed, totally match our color scheme here!). There are also, of course, grapes. Heaven forbid he gets a lunch without at least 10 grapes in it.

Bender from Futurama

John's father got him hooked on Futurama so it was absolutely no surprise when he asked for a Bender lunch.

Bender (and his name) is Empire Jack cheese and is sitting on Veggie Sticks. He also has a chili cheese sausage, sliced olives, grapes and a hard cooked egg.

Angry Birds Terence

The first day of fourth grade tomorrow & John requested an Angry Birds lunch featuring Terence!
He has three small ham & cheese sandwiches for three different versions of Terence, a hard cooked egg with a pig drawn on, sunflower seeds, grapes & pork rinds.

Coming soon to ... well ... HERE!

There's been a bit of a makeover going on and not only with the general look of the blog, but in its focus, as well. School will be starting up again for John on the 8th and he's committed to going low-ish carb at that point.

We're not going extreme keto low-carb ... we're going low-ISH-carb. It won't be a total elimination diet for him. He'll still get his fruits and starchy veggies and breads and some carby-snacks, but when we buy the rare box of ice cream it'll last us a couple of weeks rather than a couple of days. When he has a Pringles craving he'll have a serving at a time, not a full-size can. In general we're just going to be smarter and more thoughtful about what goes into our bodies. He knows that he's bigger around than he should be and that he's not comfortable with that ... nor is he comfortable at the prospect of following after his relatives with severe weight issues (including yours truly). He wants to nip it in the bud.

And you'll only be seeing lunches here so when you don't see heaps of vegetables don't start spazzing out on me. We get them, honest.

So. That's that.
