As of October 2015 all new lunches will only be posted on Instagram (and shared on Twitter).

Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone - #1

John and I started reading Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone this week and before he left for school Wednesday morning he asked for a lunch from it -- even though we haven't even gotten to Hogwarts yet!

His ham & cheese sandwich is Harry's cupboard room under the stairs --
and the door even opens to show Harry sitting on his bed (drawn onto the cheese):

Since I couldn't get a lot of detail in Harry above I decided to draw on his hard cooked egg so he could see the scar and everything:

We didn't have any snakes so a gummy worm is standing in --
with a Lemonhead instead of a Lemon Drop:

He also has a dish of diced pears, veggie sticks, and a string cheese with a spider ring.

Adiosssssss amigossssssssss!

Lost Girl - Lauren in La Fae Époque

Even though I'm Team Dyson (well, really, Team Rainer but .... spoilers!) Zoie Palmer REALLY knocked it out of the park in the La Fae Époque episode of Lost Girl:
And, the lunch:
Italian chicken breast, garden veggie spaghetti with sauce and provolone art/letters
in a black+blum Box Appetit

The Lego Movie - Emmet

John heads back to school today after a week + off for Mid-Winter Recess (and an added snow day). Yesterday we took him to see The Lego Movie 3D and we ALL loved it! When we got home I used some of my magnetic printer paper to trick out his PlanetBox Shuttle and made him an Emmet lunch for today!
In his Shuttle he has veggie sticks, a bologna & cheese Emmet sandwich, colby jack letters, a hard cooked square egg, and some Sixlets in a mini Lego cup. He also has an apple and yogurt tube.

*insert witty lunch-related title here*

As soon as I got home from work this morning I started working on my lunch to take to work tonight. Figured I'd get it out of the way so I wouldn't get too distracted. Now I'm actually looking forward to work because it looks so good!
Italian Chicken Muffins, tortellini, broccoli with Italian cheese, grapes & yogurt raisins

A New PlanetBox Rover -- Just For Mom!!!

John is off from school for the week for Mid-Winter Recess but I still have to work and lately I've been REALLY bad about taking anything worthwhile (or even a little bit healthy) with me to eat. Well, PlanetBox had a sale going on for Valentine's Day and my state tax refund showed up at the same time SOOOOO I got myself a Rover! John is obsessed with his so I figured I would get my own .... and some printable magnet sheets so I could have fun with the outer magnets. I discovered that it lays flat beautifully in my Built Market Tote as well as my b.happybags tote so that opened up what I was willing to pack for its first outing:
Top: My DIY magnets featuring one of my favorite quotes and a bunch of my favorite books
Bottom: My lunch: spaghetti with provolone hearts, teriyaki jerky bites, a mini salad with hard cooked egg, Thousand Island dressing and three itty bitty mini peanut butter cups.

Fun with VeggieTales & @StoryPanda

John has a half day of school today for Parent-Teacher Conferences so no school lunch was needed ... but he will want to eat once he gets home. What a perfect day for a lunch based on one of his new VeggieTales books given to us by our new friends at StoryPanda! He got "caught" reading one of them this morning before school but he's a big second grader now so VeggieTales lunches at school are frowned upon for being too babyish. At least this week they are. Next week he may very well ask for only VeggieTales lunches. Crazy kid.
Anyway, the folks at StoryPanda have done a wonderful job with their apps. He has the choice of having the book read to him, reading it himself, and can even use the pictures to write his own version of the book! He seems to enjoy reading How Many Veggies? and writing his own text for Junior's Colors. There's a picture of Pa Grape with a "Coming Soon" over it on the website ... I'm pretty sure he'll end up wanting whatever that ends up being, too!

The lunch for today is from How Many Veggies and features our favorites - Bob & Larry (with Junior Asparagus sneaking in):
The sandwich is ham & cheese with a pretzel stick cut for the mast and a cheese "2." Junior is a pick stuck in some grapes and there are also veggie sticks. Can't very well have a VeggieTales lunch without them, can he?

Star Wars Ewoks

There was no original intention on doing a Star Wars theme this week but after John got home from school Monday we watched the Star Wars Mythbusters episode and he decided he needed an Ewok lunch!
The sandwich is pepperoni & cheese cut with a simple teddy bear cutter. He's holding a pretzel stick as a staff. The letters and trees are empire jack cheese with Teddy Grahams for the Ewoks hiding in the forest. He also has a hard cooked egg, grapes, and LifeSaver Gummies.

Simple Star Wars Lunch

Last week was a strange week for lunches between John being sick and wanting to get lunch at school ... but today starts a new week so we're actually getting a lunch made and posted! It's a very simple Star Wars lunch:
The sandwich is bologna and cheese on wheat. The Darth Vader ring is wrapped around some string cheese. There are also corn Tings, pretzel sticks, grapes and fruit snacks.
